Has anyone built a wendy house/play house for young toddlers? Just looking for general discussion/tips/etc on the topic to aid forming a design.

Cheers

I put a piece of plexiglas (Acrylic) in the roof for a sunlight.
And I had some old shutters that were used for the windows.

Other than that I had the kiddies sketch it out with chalk on the sidewalk for general measurements, but I think I changed them a bit.
It also had a porch and railing.

To me a Wendy House kicks in for maybe 6+ years. The idea is they can go in there and shut the door and play and I wouldn't be comfortable letting that happen with a toddler.

Always wanted to build one .. never found the time when the kids were young [embarassed] [sad]

My advice would be to build something with a flip open side if the kids are really small ... or go full CIA with a closed circuit camera [big grin]

I built this one a while back: still gets used a lot! I used a piano hinge for door to save fingers getting trapped, but wouldn't recommend for an outdoor project (unless you can get stainless ones):

If it's going to live indoors and the children are young then a curtain instead of a door and just open windows, children don't care about plexiglass.
If its being built for out door use then apply the same methods codes that you would apply to a garden shed, oh and don't forget to put some kind of hook up high to hold the door open, my daughters Wendy house doesn't have glass or plexiglass in the windows, just shutters that can be closed in the winter.
