Hello everyone,
I just came accross a great deal on a used 18 in 3hp jet bandsaw. I was not Planning on getting one this soon but can’t pass up on this deal. I am sure I will use it for many thing including resawing. The saw does not come with a blade. So my question is which blades should I get and from where. I live inTorrance Ca has or online is fine also.
Thanks in advance

I think the Viking/Timberwolf Swedish "silicone steel"  blades are a good value.

I find 1/4" blades most useful for cutting contours and 1/2" or wider blades good for cutting straight.  My rule of thumb is that wider blades track better as they get dull.  You can resharpen band saw blades with low tpi by inverting them on the saw and using a Dremel tool on a cradle to regrind the gullets.

I've been soldering my own out of blade stock I bought on ebay.  I shouldn't complain, but the 1/4" stock I use break before the teeth wear out.  I have a 3-wheel saw with 10" wheels (Inca 710) and I think the small wheel radius is causing work hardening which leads to breakage.    Regardless of my problems with blade stock, narrower blades do break and their life can be extended with a blade soldering kit.
