What is the best adaptor to hook my Dust Extractor to my Jet 14" bandsaw?

Hi,

I am a new Festool user and want to hook the vacuum up to my Jet Bandsaw w a 4" diameter vacuum attachment.  Do you recommend and adapter?

Try this with a Rigid hose. The Rigid hose I have plugs into the CT. Make sure varying is grounded.

You may find that set up leaves a lot to be desired.  Here is another approach that will work better when using a Festool dust extractor.

Bandsaws are one of the more difficult stationary tools for effective dust collection...not as difficult as a contractor saw but difficult.  I have my Delta 14" hooked to a 1100 CFM central collector plumbed with 4" pipe and it does a decent job, but the blade tends to carry the dust around to the back side of the machine where there is no pickup.  I would not expect to accomplish much with a portable vac.

With my cyclone dust collector I created a Y connection at the saw with a 4" connected to the saw's port in the lower front of the saw and a 2 1/2" port directed with a flexible rigid hose to right under the saw's throat plate. With those two collection points I collect almost all of the dust and chips on most cuts (not all). I don't think the type of air movement a vac creates will work well with a bandsaw; even a Festool vac.
