I'm in a bind,  I NEED to use my Rotex today, but I am out of abrasives for it,  nothing but polishing accessories and 2-3  180g Rubin discs, nowhere neaer what I will need this afternoon.

I've milled a White Oak reception window counter for a new Doctor's office,  along with jambs/frame,  casing,  and ballistic grade lexan by-pass windows,  but the counter top needs edge joined on-site, and I will use the Domino, but even so, I will NEED to sand this.

I have never tried anything but Festool Abrasives,  what abrasives (home depot or Lowes, as they're the only ones open today,  and if anyone could offer a recommendation, I'd be most grateful.

thanks,
Kyle

Do you have a Woodcraft or Rocklers near by, they will have Mirka Abranet.

Brice,

I would guess if he did he would have access to Festool as well.  Maybe.

[tongue]That's a good one!  [big grin]

Yes, but I haven't seen a Woodcraft or Rockler stock Festool abrasives. [tongue]

Why not get any 6" sanding disc you can find and then puch Festool pattern holes using a nail set or anything similar with a pointed end.  The holes don't need to be perfectly round.  As long as they are lined up with the holes in the pad, you should be good to go.

Brice,

Have safe and happy holidays.

As for the abrasives, I assume you were just tugging my leg but just in case you weren't, they do stock Festool at the Rockler and Woodcraft stores here but the selection is minimal.  We also have a lumber dealer in Denver, Austin Hardwoods, that just started carrying Festool about a year ago and they have a better selection than the other two.  I also have a place called Sears Trostel Lumber in Ft. Collins that also carries a better selection of Festool but they are 90+ miles from my home.  Both are better but not good.

Best bet is to deal with someone like Tom who has what you need and can provide in any quantity you want.  Of course the challenge here was the timing.
