What paper asst?

I'm looking at picking up a Rotax 125, and an ETS 125 since I can buy one round of paper that they can both wear. I do mostly bare finishes (no color) using oil and urathane finishes (like General Finishes ArmRSeal or Waterlox). milling my own lumber. wondering what assortment of grits would be suggested?

For most of my sanding I start with 80 and finish with 120.  I also keep some 50 or 60 grit for rough work and some 220 for extra fine sanding.  The 80 and 120 are what I use most.  I have found that the 80 in the rotex mode is plentyt aggressive if you are sanding raw wood.  I would strongly reccomend the RO 150 as it covers more are and is much faster.  Even though two sizes of paper are needed, it should all get used eventually!

I've found the Cristal to outlast the Rubin enough to warrant the extra cost. If you're not planning on sanding any of your top coats, get the Cristal in the lower grits and the Rubin in the higher depending on what you currently sand to.

Some of the dealers will also make up sample packages of various grits. I would go with this until you figure out what will work best for you. You could use the sample packs as a bargaining tool.  ;D It is very easy to tie up big $$$ in abrasives.

I use all Cristal 40 grit to 120 grit, all the time and love it! I rarely sand above 120 though. I would go Rubin if I did.
