What table saw to complement MFT3?

I have a small 1 bay garage shop currently equipped with the TS55, MFT/3, Incra Router Table, Laguna 1412 (and jointer/planer). Anyway I tried to build some face-frames for my cabinets and getting the TS55 and MFT/3 to do the work was a painful lesson in calibration. Doing the long narrow cuts on a table saw seem much easier to get accurate cuts, however the space taken up by a cabinet saw leaves me with a few options:

* Get a cabinet saw, ditch the MFT/3 (keeping the TS55 for breaking down material) and maybe getting a miter saw
* Get a smaller contractor saw, keep the MFT/3. Is the smaller saw enough? (I'd still be looking at a Sawstop model in that size)
* Any other options?

I do have the rip guides from Woodpecker, but I have not had much success with those either. For building cabinets/drawers it seems a Table Saw is the way to go.

Alright since this is in the other tools and accessories sub forum I'll go ahead and post about another manufacturer. If money isn't that big of a deal but space is then the Mafell Erika with the sliding table is unbeatable. It folds up smaller than most miter saws on a stand and is dead nuts accurate and easy to use.

Is it sold in the US?

Yes it is. But very very costly. You can buy a Powermatic PM2000 cheaper than it. Timber Wolf Tools is the dealer. I would like to have one 2 but for 3500 bucks Ouch

I'm waiting for the Bosch REAXX.  Should be available sometime this June.

I've been without a table saw for a few years.  I have space for a big contractor saw, but I don't want to have a big saw just to have it.  The new Bosch REAXX just might be the ticket for me.

I recently purchased a sawstop jobsite and once adjusted a bit has been pretty good.

Do you find its 'accurate enough'? Given I have all the Festool items to handle the rest, do you think I'm giving up much in terms of ability with a jobsite size saw?

[member=22430]jstad[/member]    I don't know bro.    This saw has not yet been released in the US.    I have all the Festool tools needed to make any and all cuts.....but the Bosch REAXX has my attention because I don't want a table saw that will take up a lot of space.  Plus, it has the finger saving feature.
I will still use the MFT/3 and TS55 for sheet goods.  I want a table saw for rough lumber and repetitive rip cuts on lumber.

Eric

What I should have asked is will the Sawstop Jobsite be accurate enough either. Sorry about that!

One more vote for the Erika. I was in same situation as you with issues of accuracy, space limitation and portability. The Erika met  all my needs and if you get the sliding table add in a good degree of safety.  Yes, stupid expensive but glad I pulled the trigger on it.

[member=20320]rizzoa13[/member] was kind enough to demo his Erika for me and I am sold. With the sliding table and pull-to-cut features it will replace a SCMS in a small shop and and I think it is a lot safer than using a non-REAXX contractor saw for small pieces.

I can "justify" the cost, most of my tools are basically an indulgence rather than anywhere near a necessity. I'll probably pull the trigger on it soon.

I bought the jobsite for the very reasons you are considering a tablesaw and its been great for that. Will be trying some dado work with it soon

Did you get the sawstop jobsite? Do you find its accurate for those small pieces? The fences always have me worried that they are 'square enough for carpentry' and not woodworking.

Yes, sawstop jobsite. I've mainly used it for cabinet parts and so far so good. It's not a cabinet saw, I had no delusions about that, but it's been far better than my previous cheapo. Very easy set up on the stand. One downside for some folks is no pull out outfeed support but I use a keter workbench with some build up which offers more than those pull out bars. There's plenty of reviews of it out there, I've got more details of my own experience posted at talkfestool forum

Awesome I'll have to go dig those up. Sounds like we are in the same boat which is comforting to know I'm not crazy!

One thing I should add relevant to this thread, I'm not a MFT user so I have no idea about if these are at similar heights or work together in any specific fashion. Not sure if that's what you're asking regarding being a complement to the MFT, but wanted to mention it.
