We installed some new signage in the shop today. They're a nice reminder of what we're all about.

Very nice sign  [big grin]

But man get some dust on the bench  [wink]

P.S. Glad to see that your electrical outlet is installed on the right way.

That's funny!  I cleaned the sawdust off the bench right before I took the photo.

Thanks for the complement on the sign.

It's a beautiful piece of wormy Texas Mesquite with stainless steel glass standoffs and a frosted acrylic panel.

We hung another sign in our shop today. This one is from my father's (Joe Adams) saw sharpening business in the early-1970's. It was located in a small portable building outside Bill Overly's Equipment Rentals in Bellaire, Texas. The sign was hand made by his good friend, Gene Andrews, who was a professional sign painter.

As a young boy, I spent many a weekend "helping" Dad as the sparks flew in those cramped quarters. After he closed his small business and rejoined the workforce, he continued sharpening at night in our garage for all the local hardware stores. We would make the rounds to up to twenty little stores every Saturday picking up dull saws, knives, scissors and garden tools and dropping off the ones that he had sharpened after work during the week. This went on for 25 years until the big box stores eventually put all the mom & pop locations out of business.

My father loved to joke that he could sharpen anything but a dull marriage. He once told me that his part time sharpening money put all three of his kids through college. Thank you, Dad. I miss you every day.

Great story. A reminder of what made America great.
While I am a reluctant shopper at big box stores, I find them dreadful.

A few streets in our neighborhood were being renamed, so I snagged this sign before they changed it.  Fits me well  [wink]
