What’s your splinter guard distance

Hi guys
A little while back my hk55 had some issues and went back to service for a reset.
Ever since I’ve noticed the distance between the blade and the rail has increased. Of course I replaced my splinter guard and retrimmed. But I find that having a wider splinter guard a) means the guard gets chewed up more easily and b) makes it harder to Align the guard with the cut markings.
So as I’d like to know if I’m making this up, how wide are your splint guards when trimmed, ie how far from the metal edge of your guide rails do they protrude. And is there any way I can change this distance ?
Thanks I’m advance.

Hi, yes this is adjustable, and it's handy because this way, if you have multiple tracksaws, you can match them to be used on the same rails. The adjustment for the TS55 is described on page 22 of the suplemental owner's manual download link
There's no such manual for the hk 55, but I read posts by people who have it, saying that the adjustment is the same.

/edit: Just had to make some cuts and checked the guiderail, mine has a little over 1 mm rubber past the aluminum. The rails I use with the atf55 have 2mm (I didn't calibrate those saws, because I use the old style rails with the atf)

Thanks so much for the reply. I’ll try and adjust the saw as you suggest. Hopefully I won’t make it worse! Maybe I’ll give festool a shout too and see if they have any advice specific to the hk

I have four Festool track saws and all are adjusted to cut 3mm from the aluminum edge of the rails.  I cut a lot of plastics which tend to tear up the strip, I use a Paolini rule set to 3mm to check cuts that need to be exact.
