I do remember this but like you i cant remember who posted it.  Was it the dude that had a graduation pic as his avatar but changed it to a pic of him smoking a big ceeegar.  Could be totally wrong of course.

It's funny what we'll remember  [cool]

On this forum, it would be "I can't remember who posted it, but behind the project was a special drill holder for the then new T-15+3 and the guy's vacuum hose and Plug-It cord were shrink wrapped to each other on the boom arm"

I have to ask. do you ever hit your head on that trap? LOL....I know i would....

It's semantics, but usually my head hits other things with the trap  [crying]

Thank you.    I didn't know what it was called forgot it was a vanity unit.

I just looked at his profile and he hasnt been on since 23 may  aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggess ago.  Good thing is his topic does explain what he used and what he used to stain it that colour.

Its just a client i'm doing a job for might want a unit building and she likes the style and colour of this unit wants it to be pretty similar.

Just thinking what other wood can I use instead of cherry maybe something cheaper  also what stain can I get in the UK which will produce the same affect?!?!?

Funny the client was saying what she wanted and trying to tell me what colour she wanted it and I remembered this Vanity Unit which sounded like she was describing so I showed her my laptop and she said yes.  Then I was like now where was this topic so I could find out more about this unit but I just couldnt remember even thought I had been on it a few times a while ago..

From the picture it looks very dark.  You might try something as simple as water based walnut stain - not sure what its called in the UK, but its made from walnut shells and here its called brou du noix or something.  I've had quick a lot of succes using it - with various other concoctions to produce Weng? effect furniture which was "fashionable" a while ago.  With some woods you need to use a product to fill the pores first to avoid blotching.  I recently bought some Weng? coloured liquid wax for a patch up job and the result was OK.  Since io make it all up as i go along I have to do a lot of experimentation.  Been having fun, but not much success with various acids and alkalis trying to age oak recently.

Van Dyke crystals, they are crushed dried walnut shells and they are good from the point that you make your own wood colour on the ratio of water you add.

Been used for hundreds of years on oak.
