Went to an old school hardware store yesterday to get some diy plumbing washer stock and also some mineral spirits. Didn’t find any ms so resorted to asking and was directed to the “paint thinner”. Was told it’s 100% mineral spirits. Smells like it.

There it is.  Top shelf, towards the right.  But why two choices? Plastic container or metal container?

The plastic container is KleenStrip Green, which is the Low VOC version.

So two products with the same name but are different…and other products with a made up name (but with the real name in small type).

It all makes perfect sense now.  [eek]

They started that years ago. Denatured Alcohol kind of started this by being "renamed" Fuel.

As far as the two different cans of Paint thinner, the plastic can is conspicuously green (and the label on the shelf identifies that too) It's not so obvious by the front of the can, but I would imagine that matters, in some way. Funny that the "green" version is cheaper though?

Denatured Alcohol is camp stove fuel, has been for as long as I can remember.

DNA dissolves latex paint also.

At the shop we have Acetone, Lacquer thinner and DNA,  they all have there use
