Who picked up one of the new tools released in the States today?  I have the Syslite Duo, just the light, no tripod.  What did you guys get?

I bought the Duo and HKC and rails...not in hand yet but shipped from Toolnut...Wednesday!!  Also ordered AGE aluminum/plastic from  blade Toolstoday as those are my most used materials.

I'm trying to justify the HKC to myself, but can't.  So I'm searching for jobs where I'll be forced to get it  ;D

Hey Brice, remind me, does the Duo have a 2 level lighting level to it or just On/Off with that full 8000Lumen spec?

Only one light level, no switch, you just plug/unplug for on/off.

I had forgotten about the no switch part... Still think that's a bit strange but I guess the plug port had better hold up as the on-off switch of sorts when you're using it.  Thanks for the reply.

I have the SysLite Duo as well. Frankly I like the lack of a switch. With no switch, there are no moving parts to break. Plug the light in when you start, unplug when you're done.

I've been using the competitor's KSS saws for years now, and once you get used to them you find yourself using them all the time. Most of the Festool videos for the HK saws show them in framing applications, but I've found this class of saw more than capable processing trim materials. I've trimmed out whole basements in pre-finished, stain-grade materials using this type of saw and the results are great.

Just picked up the HKC and the DWC few hours ago  Will be using both tomorrow.  Really hoping the HKC works out since i like the concept

I just picked up the HKC this evening. Will try it out in the morning.

I hate the idea of a light without a switch, just my opinion.

Really???....glad my table saw and planer don't have that convenient feature.  [eek] [eek]
So you just grab the cord and yank?

I wonder how many yanks it takes before you have to replace the wall socket or the cord...

In this day and age with electrical/electronic items becoming cheaper to purchase than a bad pork chop, why wouldn't Festool just add a remote control function? A push for the light on/off and a second button on/off for the vacuum. That makes using the light easy, unless you're into jerking electrical cords out of the wall outlets, and it may in fact sell more vacuums.

Will this herky-jerky German motion never end? Is there really a global vision here or are we relegated to 2 steps forward and 1 step back?

Picked up my HKC55 yesterday evening!  [big grin] [big grin] [big grin] I'm sure I'll find a reason to use it today!

I have a Syslite Duo waiting for me when I get back home from Indy.  The HKC really looks nice, but that will have to be something of a future purchase.

Regards,
Gerald

I had a chance to use the DWC at the Connect event, very nice tool.  I really liked the auto mode where the you don't use the trigger, just depress the nose and the drill automatically starts.  Also, there was a 2.5ah battery in the DWC, that made it really light weight.  I have a Senco drywall gun and when it goes I'll be getting the DWC.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the DWC.  We used it for about 5 hrs today and guys were fighting over it  We have used many different ones and i didn't really believe in them since i was used to using my little milwaukee m12 fuel.  This thing is so smooth and well balanced. Its exactly what i would have expected from festool.

The HKC is still growing on me.  I can see myself getting used to it once i get accustomed to balancing it better .

I bought the Syslite Duo love it but just don't get the no off/on switch. Also the tripod for it is heavier than the light but well built.

the DWC looks like a rebadged Protool Duradrive.  Looks exactly the same except the it's orange instead of green. Sure beats the way I learned how to hang drywall... balancing a sheet on my head and using a hammer and nail to secure it!  :o  That may have been the hardest job I ever had...
