I have been slowly adding to my small tool cache with quality, converged space, and storage in mind.

Which is why I am dumbfounded as to why we in the US do not have access to purchase the Festool HKC55 to be able to crosscut 2x4 with accuracy & mitre railing.

Do you guys hate us or something? ;-)

Please provide a projected window for US release.

Thank You

The Mafell version have been out for a fair while, if you really need one.

This fall. Get ready.

Seriously, trust me that we want the HK and HKC to be available in North America just as much as you do. (We have sales goals to hit, people!  [big grin]) We're really excited that it will be available later this year.

There are several reasons why it takes a while to get tools here in NA. Sometimes they need to be modified for our market. Sometimes we simply can't produce them fast enough. (The last thing we want to do is make it available and then have to put people on a long wait list.) Sometimes we're just ruthlessly cruel and heartless for no apparent reason. (Kidding.)

Thanks for being patient!

I understand if you can't divulge too much information, but I'm curious whether that HK85 will be included in this release, or whether it will just be the 55 sizes in corded and cordless.

We'll be getting the HK 55 and HKC 55.

I think you should just open a Mafell retail outlet and be done with the gentle nudges [big grin]

The stuff is too expensive to have unless there is a real need for it [member=13058]Kev[/member] .

Both tools look good though.

LOL - Because the largest HK is a 45.  You can get the C version and in green too.  Another fine example of German engineering.

I saw the teaser for the HK55 HKC55 in a recent email. So what exactly is a "carpentry saw"? What does it do differently from the venerable TS55 and 75 out there?

I'd be interested to hear the opinions of non-NA folks who already have the HK.

We'll be releasing more info on the HK(C) in the next few weeks or so, but the primary difference is that the track is affixed to the saw itself. So it's ideal for things where you need to cut down one (or a few) board(s) at a time -- like with framing, roofing, flooring, etc. It's not ideal for ripping, which is where the good ol' TS comes in.

To my mind, the real star is the new rail. The captured rail makes life really easy. I have the FSK250 and FSK420 ... the only reason I haven't got the FSK670 is that I'm hoping it comes as part of a HK85 set option next month here.

The HKC55 doesn't have the power (to my mind) of the TSC55, but it's lighter and more nimble to use, with the narrower kerf blade probably compensating a fair bit (ensuring it's sharp and clear is probably important - mine has had little use sort far, so I can't really say on this point). All said though, this isn't the saw for trimming a hardwood door.

My guess is that light and cordless captured track saws will be the next thing we see from the brands that don't have this trick!

You are correct, the star is the rail, i used the HK55 / FSK-670 today to cut about 20 600mm worktop cuts, so simple, place track on top, butt up against stops, cut...!

No squares , clamps or anything else needed.

Funny thing is, of all the Festool I have, i didn't purchase the HK, then I met [member=41214]Phil Beckley[/member] at the FOG UK BBQ and saw him using it, I bought the HK55 on the way home from the BBQ, and then the HK85 2 weeks later

Very expensive BBQ lol
