Why isn't there a corded option for cordless tools?

I've always wondered this - my sys 50 table saw is the perfect tool for a corded option, and there's really not any reason why it couldn't just have an option to plug it in. The same goes for the dust extractors, etc..

I know people always complained about the charging port being on the bottom of an Apple Magic Mouse, and that preventing people from using it while charging, but that was a matter of physics. If you'd left it plugged in, as everyone would, it would have wrecked the internal Li-Ion battery. However, the cordless products don't suffer from this, because the batteries are removable.

So is it really that Festool just want to force adoption of one or both?

I have wondered this too. Presumably there is more to it than this, but I am guessing that the CSC SYS 50 essentially needs a 36V DC power supply, which shouldn’t be too difficult to arrange?

I have devices that allow either corded or cordless use. My label maker comes to mind. But that device uses standard AAA batteries.

However, if the manufacturer of the device manufactures a dedicated battery, then a corded option will reduce sales of the batteries.

My guess is that the decision is based on the idea that selling more batteries is a profit driver and offering a corded option works against that idea.
