Will the C15 3.0Ah battery work on the 15V Carvex PSC 420 Li15?

Yes all the festool tools with slide on batteries will take lower voltage batteries.
so that drill will take any battery from 12v up. But the 12/14.4v tools wont take 18v batteries.

That's interesting! That is exactly the opposite of what the store guy told me. He said that the 18V batteries can go on the lower V tools. Thanks for the info, I will feel confident now in buying some naked machines as I have some 14.4 batteries.

Hello.

Notice that the power output from the machine will be lower when lower voltage batteries are used.

Do you mean that the machine will perform worse or that the power will drain faster with the lower voltage batteries?
Does it affect speed or power?
In the hammer drill case it would be interesting to know as a little less speed maybe isn't that bad but a lower torque would not be good news.

Might be both, depends on the machines electronics. The RPM can be a little bit lower and the battery might drain out faster. I don`t think that the difference between 18V - 14.4V is that big. I did a quick test with BHC 18 and with 18V and 14.4V batteries the RPM sounded the same but with the 10.8V battery the RPM was clearly lower. I will test how the machine performs under load with these batteries and will do some thorough testing after lunch. I will get back to you.

My recommendation is that you use 18V batteries with the BHC 18.

Your welcome, happy to help you. :)

I tested the different batteries by drilling in to concrete with 14mm drill bit. There was a small difference between 18V and 14.4V. With the 18V battery the machine felt more powerful and the RPM were maybe a bit higher compared to the 14.4V. I didn`t have a 18mm drill bit so I can not say will the 14.4V battery cope with it, 18mm drill bit is the biggest one you can use with this machine. There might be also a small difference in torque between the 18V and the 14.4V batteries but I don`t have a precise way to measure this. Obviously the 10.8V was pretty much useless, lower RPM and the machine turned but didn`t have almost any power.
If you want to make use of the machines full potential, use 18V batteries. You can use the machine with 14.4V batteries but this might have an affect on the overall performance.

I`m not expert in electronics but I will try to explain it a little bit. In general the battery powered Carvex jig saws electronics work in a way that when you use lower voltage batteries, the electronics will change the battery voltage higher so that you can get the same amount of power out. This will make the lower voltage batteries to drain out faster. But the thing is that the battery powered Carvex jig saws are designed to be used with different voltage batteries, the BHC 18 is not.

In the end if you wan`t to get the best performance from your cordless power tool, use the batteries that it is designed for.

Hope this helps you.
