Will the T-Lock systainers be discontinued?

Just saw some in depth video on the new systainers3 and while most of the changes/improvements are great (particularly the slides and lid closing easier) the front handle intefering with the T-lock when stacking is a big NO-NO for me personally. I do not know if Festool will discontinue the T-locks and continue with Systainer3 soon.

Not sure how they make their decision on products being discontued but please do NOT stop production of the T-locks.

Thoughts?

my thoughts are i dont like the sizes of the new systainers, but the t-lock is the same and if you dont like the handle you can just take it off

Let’s put it this way...the older T-Loc is suddenly no longer available in colors while the new Systainer 3 will be.

Out with the old, in with the new.

Who knows, but a decade after the introduction of T-loc, Tanos still makes classic systainers.

My understanding is that T-Loc Light Grey and Anthracite will be around for a while, just like another reader pointed out that Classics are still available.  The T-Loc colors are phased out for Systainer3 colors.  OEM customers of systainers, I'm not sure what they are being told about change over or not.

Dunno but theres a few companies out that either still do or have used T-Loc systainers and I have boxes with these company names on them.
Festool.
Metabo.
BTI.
Panasonic.

Plus when I went for my covid test a month or so ago I did the swab, put it in a littke placky bottle then that barcoded bottle in a barcoded bag then on the way out dropped the lot into a T-Loc systainer that had the Biohazard symbol on it.

Admittedly, I can't see a huge market for secondhand ex covid test kit storage biohazard T-Loc boxes but at least it shows theres a few companies out there using them.

Oh and other that the Biohazard boxes I'm really not fussy about them all matching to the point where I'd rather some didn't cos I don't look like a total Fanboi if I have a few other colour and manufacturers T-Loc boxes.

Cadex also uses them for nail guns. I have a 21 ga brad nailer and the company I work for has a couple of 23 ga micro pinners that all came in Systainers with the logo on the lid. They even have the same color T loc.
Fein also used them too, in their signature orange.
Mirka in yellow with black T loc.

Before Woodpecker offered T-Locs in Anthracite, I purchased a couple in red for Woodpeckers stuff.

While it is true that many companies still have there stuff in T-Locs, it is also true that those same companies used to have there stuff in Classics and switched to T-Locs.

I don't think we will see an announcement of T-Locs being discontinued. I think they will just gradually fade away (as in be dicontinued) without any fanfare from Tanos.

Add Mafell to the list.

The T-Locs will probably be "not discontinued, just no longer existing"

People mention the classics,  while it was established they do still technically exist, it's not like they are something you can just go out and buy anyplace/anytime.  I suspect T-locks will live longer, and due to the issues with Systainer 3s, there will be stronger demand for them, plus the base of them is far bigger than classics ever would have been when those were changed.

They not just exist, they are being manufactured as we speak and are widely available from Tanos and its distributors any time.

True, they still exists and are being produced.  Runs are limited, is my understanding.  I've been told that I won't be able to as easily order, but I've not been told I can't order.  I've got a few classic sizes in stock and all sorts of accessories (mostly latches and handles) from a former dealer, if anyone is interested.

T-Locs aren't going away soon.

Honestly I don’t think the front handle is much of an issue. I really like it. The Sys 3 M 187 is the perfect size in my opinion. The front carry handle on it is right in the middle of the Systainer for perfect balance. It’s right between a Sys 2 and Sys 3 T-Loc in size.  I’ve been able to fit both my RO 90 and RO 150 in the same Sys 3 M 187. I’m also working on fitting my Domino XL in one as well. It’s a tight fit but will work with a minor adjustment.

I don’t care about the height changes as I don’t stack my Systainers to match the height of my MFT/3. I realize for others this is a big deal but it doesn’t matter to me at all. The Sys 3 M112 is the same height as a Sys 1 T-Loc so it will still work as a support for long boards on the Kapex while using the Kapex on the floor.

As far as the front handle interfering with the T-Loc latch this is only the case for Sys 3 M 112 Systainers and Sys 3 M 89 Organizers. And it’s only an issue if you have them in the middle or top of a stack. If you put it beneath another Systainer it will latch onto the one above it and you can still lock the front handle securely so it doesn’t bounce around. If you have a bunch of them stacked together and are transporting them in your car I would just not turn the T-Loc latch and lock the front handle in position. That way the handles won’t bounce around in transit. They are pretty secure together just sitting on top of each other (that’s actually how companies have shipped them to me when I have ordered multiple of the Organizers and they arrived just fine).

If you have a second generation Sys 2 T-Loc under a Sys 3 M 112 Systainer the old T-Loc latch will catch on the bottom of the front handle because the old T-Loc latches are a little bigger. You can easily swap it out for the newer style T-Loc latch.

I totally converted to the new Systainers and love them. Just my opinion though. I can see how it is an inconvenience for others.

Now I’m just waiting for the Sys 4-Sort/3 in the new style if they decide to make them... And new attic lids :)

Just dropping in here that the Systainer Midi became a lot more expensive to get.  [eek]

Really?  Where are you buying from?  My price hasn't changed, and I've not see a change on the Tanos list price list either.

By far the cheapest was the Festool branded one. The Tanos one is still available, but way more expensive than the new Sys^3 L xxx

Also the empty Panasonic T-Loc Systainers are becoming harder to get..

I've noticed a clear drop in the availability of 2nd gen T-LOC systainers. Also stuff like foam inserts are now almost unobtainable.

I think we are being 'forced' to move on.

I'm still stocking Light Grey and anthracite T-Loc systainers.  There are some supply issues in that Tanos USA has had a lot of systainers going to the medical industry for vaccine distribution, and so overall warehouse stock in the USA has been low.

So even the medical industry doesn't want the Sys3  [tongue]?

Yeah I noticed looking for bottom foam for a Systainer Maxi. Seems one shop sells the actual Systainer Maxi, another shop the foam...
