Wish Festool Wouldn't ship with UPS, because they break my stuff.

Been so happy with all my Festool purchases, but not so happy with UPS treatment. When I received my TS55 I saw the UPS driver pull up, as I went to walk out I saw my TS55 flying through the air landing in the front area of the truck. When I opened the box, the TS55 was all ok, but the tray insert was shattered. I received my TS75 the other day, but was not home when it came. The box had a hole/dent and the bottom of the #5 systainer was cracked. Very disappointed. Can I get an exchange on just the systainer?

I have had great luck with FedEx ground and have been very happy with the way they treat my stuff. When I am not home they hide my stuff on the side of the house rather than having festool facing the street as an advertisement of what I just bought on my front porch.

No love here for the brown-suited package smashers either. Also wish FedEx were an option...

For me UPS is the best choice.

I'm lucky enough to have respectful both UPS and FedEx drivers, but I agree, choice would be nice. Especially b/c the FedEx man hits my house at 9 AM, and my stuff sits out there for an entire day, whereas I'm towards the end of the UPS route and can usually beat him home. I'm sure it's the exact opposite for some other guy though.

I think a choice would be great. I can't  get irate with my UPS guy because he may treat my packages even worse, and if I report him, he knows where I live.

My UPS driver puts my orders in the garage. The current Fed Ex driver is much better than the last.

I'm not sure if I'm old fashioned, but I tip my UPS and USPS driver every Christmas, just seems like the right thing to do. Maybe he's forgotten already after all the icy sidewalks I've created, but I'm hoping me remembers for at least a few weeks.

UPS is fine here in Scandinavia. The packages are undamaged, the delivery guys are friendly and efficient..

I like delivery companies that have a arrangement with the Danish Postal service which means if they don't find me home they drop it off at the post office where I can pick it up when it suits me..UPS doesn't offer this service here, though some other carries do DHL for example.

I try and do my orders so I get as much included at one time, so I only have to deal with waiting for deliverys once a month or two. Otherwise I head over to the local dealer for consumables or handtools or powertools if I need them in a hurry. Here of course I pay a price premium, but I can accept that occasionally..

It varies a lot from place to place.  Here, I have had the same UPS driver for years.  He has gone out of his way for me several times and I always know where he will leave the package (different place if its raining).

On the other hand, I never seem to get the same driver twice from FEDEX.  I always have to go searching for the FEDEX package. Once they couldn't even find my house, claimed there was no such address.

I've only had one systainer damaged, which Festool replaced.  Maybe the reason behind having so little damage is that Bob Marino packages things so well!

Who exactly was the shipper? Did you buy your TS55 directly from Festool USA, in which case they selected the carrier? Or, did you buy it through a dealer? Generally the only circumstance in which Festool USA ships directly to an end user is with reconditioned tools, which are sold by dealers but drop-shipped by Festool. Of course Festool ships tools sent in for repair.

Bottom line within the USA we have a choice of FedEx or UPS for packages the size and weight of most Festool items. Some such items, guide rails and MFT sets, are notoriously difficult to ship individually. Festool USA usually ships stock to dealers on large pallets by motor freight. For that reason someone from my shop takes one of our trucks to our local dealer when we are picking up a new rail.

My own experience with thousands of shipments is that FedEx and UPS have good records. Before there was FedEx there was Railway Express. Trust me, their purpose was to make UPS look like careful handlers of goods.

It was a Reconditioned TS75. So it came directly from Festool. When I order other items, I always choose FedEx. Being a recondition item. I haven't figured out if it would be covered for the systainer.

I have had better luck with Fed X than with UPS. But to be honest all shipping companies are rough on the merchandise. I had an 18" planer shipped to my place of employment and watched the trucker throw a machined shaft out the back of the trailer onto ground.

Some delivery drivers just don't give a damn. Around here UPS is worse than fedex

What really stinks is there is no truly correct option here because it will vary from location to location as to which delivery service is the best.

Both UPS and Fedex are typically pretty good in my area.  That being said I just had my first bad experience with Fedex.  I was supposed to receive my RO 150 today.  I came home after a mountain bike ride, the sander hadn't arrived so I checked the shipping status.  The status showed that the  driver couldn't find my house so the sander wasn't delivered.  The town I live in may be around 10 miles east of the middle of nowhere but I do live in a very standard residential neighborhood with clearly marked streets and house numbers.  What makes it even more bizarre is that another, unrelated, package was delivered earlier in the day by Fedex without any issues ???

I called Fedex and they told me that they don't do residential deliveries on Mondays so they will try again to deliver the sander on Tuesday [mad]

I guess everyone has issues. UPS did damage to both of my plunge saw cases and when they were to deliver my TS75, my 75" track came last Monday. And no Saw. I was freaking out because there was some strange work crew installing windows a couple doors down. Thought they may have picked up a new TS75. After going through all of UPS's digital menus, I finally got to talk to someone, and luckily they still had it, the shipment got separated. They ended up coming back the next day to deliver the saw. Usually UPS comes in the late afternoon and I am home when they come. All of a sudden they are coming several hours before I get home and I get to have my tools sitting out front for a couple of hours.

I've been very fortunate to have good service and careful delivery from UPS and FedEx in this region (Northern Virginia).  However when I get a bulk delivery of bullets, the driver will usually say something like, "What on earth did you buy this time?"  They think I'm kidding when I say, "bullets..."

[big grin]
