I installed the Wixey WR510 on my Dewalt DW735X planer this evening. It took no more than 15 minutes and went on without incident. I set my router depth stop to .75" and ran a piece of pine through it. After the initial pass, I checked the wood's thickness with a micrometer and it was exactly .75". I then checked it on the Wixey and, again, it was .75". I then ran the board through a few more passes and checked its thickness a final time. The micrometer results were exactly the same as the Wixey. I am so impressed. I never relied on a planer's scale before but I plan to rely on the Wixey. I highly recommend it.

Ya they're pretty slick, would be lost without mine, and as you mentioned, they are accurate.
Just a note of caution, it goes through those 2032 batteries pretty fast if you don't manually turn it off (and who bothers, that's what the auto off is for...right?) so I keep a couple of extra batteries on hand at all times.  [big grin]

I use on on my 735 as well and I love it.  Defintiely really easy to dial in precise measurements.
One recommendation - when i first got mine, i used to leveling screw and the double stick tape that they give you.  It worked fine, but eventually came out of calibration so I had to make manual adjustment.  Spend the 10 mins and use the self-tapping screws once you get the scale dialed in.

Cheese,
The newer models use two AAA batteries. I think they last quite a bit longer even though the device never really shuts off. But thanks for the heads up!

RobNJ,
I went ahead and used the self tapping screws during the initial install. I've had that double sided tape fail too often in the past to trust it with this. But thanks for the heads up!

Thank you for the heads-up, didn't realize they changed the battery source...that's what happens when you buy into a product early in its life. I guess my e-mails to Wixey must have resonated with someone. [eek]

The capacity of a AAA battery versus a 2032 is like a 6X multiplier. Hate to spend the money on a new DRO, but also hate swapping out batteries all of the time.  [mad] [mad]
