Hi All,
Bear with me [embarassed], I made a rough sketch (cross section) of a new to-be-build casing for my gutter. Dimensions are not exact, but good enough to give some idea. The wall is ~ 14 meters long and roof is sloped (7 degrees). The casing will be hanging just over 2200 mm above ground. The roof beams are space ~ 600mm apart.
Notes:
1. The zinc gutter will me mounted on metal hooks, these will be screws to the structural roof beams.
2. The support boards (~ 21mm thick) I want to screw with 3 screws to the beam, they are there to make the (horizontal boards) a level support to screws to.
My questions:
1. The casing I planned to make, will be 21mm okoume plywood (and treat it for outside). Is okoume plywood a good for this?
2. My concern is the structural construction of the horizontal and vertical boards. I was thinking to use some (SIPO) domino's (8x50 domino any good?) to connect to vertical board to the horizontal board and glue it (Titebond III). Would this be sufficient?
3. If using the domino's: what would be better to use the domino's in a vertical or horizontal position? I also feel something is sill missing, maybe a square 50x50 (mm) beam that serves as extra support in the corner?
3. Then to the screws, I wanted to use SPAX not sure about the size: 4.5x70 to 5.0x70? Something better (longer, thicker?)?
Would love to hear your thoughts how to do this (the right way [laughing])!
Thanks a lot!
