woodpecker storage case vs the systainer

I was looking to see if anybody had opinions of the wood pecker storage case. I was looking at this woodpecker one time deal and I am trying to find out if the systainer add on is worth the extra $70 for the case. Anybody have any experience with the woodpecker cases?

The Woodpecker cases (plastic ones) are typical plastic cases. Decent quality but pretty normal. I have used the foam inserts from them in tool drawers to hold the items instead of leaving them in the cases.

The real reason to get the Systainer would be less about the case quality and more about integrating it into a Systainer system.

Personally, I find the systainer is worth the premium price because of how they all integrate. I would guess everyone's situation is unique. I've purchased some older one time tools second hand and wished they had systainers instead of the Woodpeckers case. I may just purchase some Anthracite ones, and use some Kaizan foam to make it work.

I really don't like the standard Woodpeckers cases. They're the typical blow-molded style which makes them big on the outside while being small on the inside...the worst of all worlds.  [smile]

If Woodpeckers offers a Systainer upgrade I usually go for it. I've even called them up and requested a Systainer upgrade be offered and they agreed.

When Systainer upgrades are not available, like Seth, I'll remove the foam from the standard case and fit it into a Systainer or a drawer.

Agree with the above. I have found the systainers most useful for the gauge block and track saw parallel guides. They make it easy to take the kit with me if I move to different job sites.
