Woodpeckers newest OneTIME Tool is the ultimate “go, no go” gauge for edge tools like chisels and plane blade irons. No other gauging device can match the accuracy this tool offers. The Edge Tool Sharpening Gauge is a purpose-made tool that excels at its job like multi-purpose tools simply cannot.

Start with a Highly Precise Square. Woodworkers know chisels and plane blades perform best and are easiest to use when the business end is square to the sides of the blade. The Edge Tool Sharpening Gauge starts with a built-in square that’s more precise than most other commonly available shop squares.

How? Glad you asked. The gauge is made using special 17-4 stainless steel. Because of the stability of this kind of steel, Woodpeckers can easily maintain a perpendicularity tolerance of .0085° or about .001” per foot. And while all Woodpeckers squares are made to this same exactly tolerance, they are often too large to use in this application. The inside length of each leg is 3” with a thickness of 3/32” making it the perfect size and thickness for inspecting edge tools.

Order deadline is March 12, 2018.

I just ordered one up for myself.  For my plane irons and chisels I currently use the Woodpeckers mini-square to check edge squaring:https://www.woodpeck.com/minisquare.html

And then the Kell brass gauge to check the bevel angle

But the Woodpeckers mini square is too small for the larger plane irons, and I'm always misplacing the Kell gauge around the shop (it's a favorite plaything of the shop gremlins, who like to steal it and hide it under other tools), so I figure this combines two tools in one in a format that hangs prominently and securely on the tool cabinet wall.
