Hi guys,

today I got an email, that Woodpeckers Paralles Guide System (supposed to be a One Time Tool) is brought back to a second production run. For $399 it's almost double the price of the Seneca Woodworking solution and almost three times the price of the Precision Dogs.

I know that there are a couple of comments, but I think it's time to start a new discussion to review all the up to now available systems.

Thanks

Welcome to the FOG :)

I have been using the Woodpeckers version for awhile now, and while I haven't used the others, I would buy the Woodpeckers version again. The previous issue was professionally handled by the manufacturer. Not sure what they are going to use for screws this round, but I stand by utilizing 5/8" hex head screws.

From a previous post of mine.
"I looked at Seneca's system and it appears to be the same connection to the rail as Woodpeckers uses, except with allen head screws. Seneca does use a knob for their rail attachment to the part that attaches to the Festool rail. Not really a benefit if you have to get an allen key out to move the parallel guides to a shorter/longer rail or remove them altogether. In fact I would think Woodpeckers is more solid in that it has two mounting points not one thumb screw. These things are going to take a beating, as you will see when you go to use it."

Also wanted to leave the system as rigged up as possible while maintaining portability in the Systainer. I flipped, cut the foam, and modified to do so.

I modified it a little bit so I can use it without having to run setup checks every time, unless I want ultimate accuracy.

I also use it as a fence on my holey table, utilizing rail dogs.

I would love to own the Woodpeckers version. Got a LOT of their tools. But their parallel guide setup it just too overpriced compared the more than adequate Seneca and Precision Dogs offerings. Ill be passing on this "Once Again" Tool yet again.

I tend to almost always buy the onetime tools that are applicable to my needs over anything else but I am starting to swallow hard.  They do cost a substantial amount.  What always keeps me from being depressed is that I know I will always get my money back if I want to sell them and sometimes at steep profit if they are both a Festool device and a one time tool.  I am a hobbiest so owning and looking at the tools ends up being almost more important to me than using them sometimes.

This is very true.

I sold my Festool parallel guides because I just couldn't see the markings well and was about to buy the Seneca set when Woodpeckers announced theirs.  I decided to buy the Woodpecker version for the permanent rule markings.  The plastic rule insert used by Seneca and others seemed less dependable.  I doubt I would have been unhappy with the Seneca version but I have no regrets paying the extra for Woodpecker's.
