Woodpeckers Ultra-Shear in 8mm

Jeff why didn't you call out that the 8mm would work in the Shaper Origin?  I read the ad copy and it mentioned the 1010 but not the Shaper which seems like a primary sales target for 8mm.

Didn't know! I'll fix that on the web site and remember it for the next 8mm bit.

Kudos to WP for hearing the 8mm request and taking the leap. Jeff, I'm sure you were instrumental, thanks.

While the V-bit is low on my list, as a general statement if 8mm is an available option, along the 1/4" & 1/2", I'll likely choose it every time. Reason being is the bulk of my routing uses a palm router (+ Origin) and I've added 8mm collets for all my routers. 8mm performs well enough, and anything I buy in 1/2" is useless for my small routers.

Hope enough people feel the same way. I stuck my neck out a little on this one.

Thanks Jeff, I know 8mm isn't as big a seller but its nice when companies listen.

As an aside, I saw the email for the one day only sale on the SpinRite spindle.  I missed it but I saw you had the ER20 - 8mm collet listed.  I had no idea that was available from you (I asked a couple of times when I first bought my SpinRite) so I plan to get one.  I know they are available everywhere but was hoping you would have one so I know its a good product.  Thanks.

I ordered one yesterday to use on my Shaper Origin and OF1010.

I was one of the people who asked Woodpecker to start doing 8mm shank bits, figure it would be good to order one.

I'll post it over on the Shaper Forum to give it a little more visibility.

I don't use a V bit often enough to go that far, but the 8mm shank is definitely attractive. I would gladly purchase other bit shapes/sizes.

I just ordered my first ultrasheer and didn't even notice the 8mm version. I got a set of the bowl bits to try out. I wonder if I can get an 8mm collet for my 3hp porter cable in my router lift.

In a router that powerful you wouldn't find 1/2" to be better?

I agree and it is mostly what I use in it. But from time to time I have to use 1/4" for stuff that I don't have in 1/2". So for those times I don't have things in 1/2" but might possibly have it in 8mm then I can jump to it. You know for those times it's easier to take the work to the tool instead of the tool to the work.

Questionable. They've discontinued that router and I don't remember seeing anything other than 1/2" and 1/4" when it was in production. Amana makes 1/2" to 8mm reducing collars.
