I decided to go back to basics and build a fairly easy cutting board to make sure my technique was sound.  I had been have trouble getting the corners to line up when every other strip was flipped.  I was scratching my head and then I discovered my table saw fence was toed out about 30 thousands!   [scared]  Once I got my fence back in line with the blade, that cured that problem.  The difference between this board and the one Marc shows is I added the juice channel.  I was going to use my MFS but I only have the 400.  Not for long.  I asked Santa for two 700 profiles and that will solve that problem. In the meantime, I made one up using MDF and it worked fine but it's not adjustable.

Thanks. I used maple and walnut this time. I normally use purple heart for the dark wood but its too brittle and chips too easily. Walnut is much more workable.

I like that, Howard. I liked you previous version(s) also.

Are you saying that purple heart was too much trouble during the build or when using the cutting board? It certainly looked sharp. After a year, how did it/they hold up?

Thanks,

Tom

Tom, it holds up fine.  The problem is in the machining.  It splinters very easily.  I have to be very careful during the assembly process when running it through the planer.  Having a new A3-31 with the silent power carbide head helps out a lot!

Thanks, Howard, that's what I thought you meant... You have some very nice machines now.
