I really like the new Bar Guage, but I'm not quite sure I want one due to the fact that I wouldn't use it very often. However, if there were trammel points of some kind that would screw into the bottoms, I would buy the entire set in a New York minute. Would anyone else? If anyone knows the Woodpeckers guy on here please mention this idea to him. Thanks.

A bit off topic, but as of Monday 10/24/11, Woodpeckers is offering a 12" extension to fit any of the bar gauges.  I ordered the basic set and the extension.  It just screws into the ends of the existing bar.

I just thought I would mention this in case anyone ordered the set when it was initially offered and did not go back to see the new addition.  It only adds $15 to the price.

I spoke with Rich Hummel this morning.  The main topic of our discussion not important to this thread, but this new item did come up while we were talking.  He assured me that the extensions and extra pieces would have no effect on the general production time.  I also pressed him a little to get on here and get involved in the conversations about his tools and company.  I didn't realize he's been a registered FOG member since 2008 - "rmh".

I also found out what might really be the number 1 reason for production through delivery delays.  Admirably he wants to keep all work in the U.S. and in house.  He's had a hard time getting knowledgeable CNC operators as employees.  He only wants them as employees, so no outsourcing.  Anyone out there with the skills, or knowledge of someone who'd fit the bill, might be interested in a job, working for a great company, making some really cool stuff and helping us get our toys faster.

So, if you get two 12" extensions for the 24" set can you effectively make a 48" bar gauge?  If so, I think I'll end up taking it.  I definitely enjoy using Woodpecker stuff (or Pinnacle at Woodcraft).

NVA _WW,

That is correct.  For stability reasons, they recommend not using more than two extensions.  So if you bought two 12" extensions it gives you the possibility for 24", 36" and 48" maximums.

Thanks Neill.  I think I'm going with a 24" complete bar set, 12" set, and two 12" extensions.  I should have enough stuff to make a bar gauge between 12 - 48".  Hmmm, I am trying to figure out if I need the 96" set [unsure]

NVA_WW,

I know what you mean.  I am one of those guys who have to have a complete set of everything I buy, whether I need it or not.  When I was into golf, I would buy all the irons and woods in the set, including a one iron, if it was offered.

The problem with the one-time tools is that if you decide you need it later you are out of luck.  I had that problem when I ordered the corner radius jigs they offered.

Since Seth was the one who presented the idea to Richard Hummel, I suggest we name it the Woodpeckers SemenzaTrammel.  [big grin]

Yes, the trammel heads will fit on the bar gauges. When I ordered all my bits and pieces I asked them to respond in "plain english" as to whether or not they would fit, and the fella replied that they "fit perfectly" and you do not need to order separate bars if you already ordered the original gauges. Like a couple of the guys above, I just have to have the complete set, so there went a $300.00 bill. :)

Thanks, CutsTwice! Now I have to decide if these are something I'd use enough to justify the cost (and adding more bits and pieces to keep track of in an already over-crowded shop...).  ???

Finding a place to put 'em is half the fun Bill, I'm the proud owner of a new 50 inch wide drawer....just for my Woodpeckers story stick pro, 50 inch ruler, and a couple of 26 inch squares. lol

I love all the Woodpecker products.  They also have great prices on other brands.  Delivery is also prompt and well packed.

My only complaint is that a shortage of competent production employees has backed up their delivery schedules.  I ordered the radius jigs back in July for early September, 2011, delivery.  Still do not have them.  I think they are now saying sometime in November.  I would rather wait for the quality product but it has been a long time.

I waited a long time for my super large square and 50" rule and it was worth the wait.  I ordered the bars and trammel and I have no issue waiting until Jan/Feb 2012 before I receive them.  Helps since they don't charge the credit card until they ship.

Yup, I love my 26 inch squares. I don't use the 50 inch ruler too much, but the imperial set-up blocks I just got from them are awesome. I find that I'm reaching for them constantly all day long. I've ordered the miter masters and the bars, but I really regret that I didn't order the radius gauges. If anyone got a set of radius gauges and has buyers remorse, I'd love to buy them.
