We have an Ethan Allen cherry desk that my wife really likes, and want to arrange a room with it in a back to back "partner" setup. Ethan Allen no longer makes it, so a new piece to match is in the near future.
I measured the desk and came up with a "writing" desk that matches it for size and details, but this one has only shallow drawers at the two sides. The one we have has two drawers on the L and a large one on the R with the drawerfront made to look like the pair on the L. Saddlebag drops. Like you see in a lot of desks.
Not owning a Domino, but having made pieces before like this using m and t, I wonder if my proposed domino design will be strong enough for a this. I used 8mm and smaller tenons, and am thinking of the 500 which can cut mortises up to 10 mm in size. Apron parts joining into the 2.25" square legs are all 3/4" thickness.
Please comment on the design and the size of the tenons. It looks to me as if the 700, with its 14 mm capacity, is really for heavy work, like large entry doors and pieces larger than this old furniture-maker wants to handle now.
