I did not realize the old Yahoo group had disappeared until today. Although I have saved many old posts from the Yahoo site on my PC, my lack of PC skills may prevent me from saving those from total loss when my employer swaps out my corporate PC. I bought a 160 GB backup unit from Best Buy and used it to allegedly make a backup of my entire PC, but how can I be sure? Since my PC had only about 25GB on it and the backup has much more capacity, I figured I could also copy and store selected files on that backup. But it won't let me. And last week, my Dell Inspiron 1505 crapped out again, and refuses to boot up and displays the same error messages that I saw last summer when its hard drive died at about 3 months after purchase. I am obviously not impressed with Dell's home products. The machines they supply to my employer (Dell Latitude series) seem to be much more durable and reliable. The home PC is running VISTA. Is my experience due to some defects in VISTA? The .PST (Outlook format) files which contain many FOG posts together at least as many non-FOG emails total about 4 GB. I'm certain there is a lot of useful FOG information in them.
Has anyone any ideas how I, even I, the PC destroyer king, can save these and make them available for distillation and reposting as appropriate on the current FOG forum?
