You are Nth American. Are you offended by Aldi's Australian Christmas Ad?

It's an ad and ads are aimed at getting your attention. Anyone who is offended by any ad just needs to look away, turn the channel or turn the page. Most ads are offensive to mind of anyone with an IQ over 80, given how ridiculously stupid and insulting the vast majority of the are. It is hard to believe that ads could get someone other then young children and senior citizens to buy based on seeing an ad.

Re Aussies and what they say about Brits. You are probably right, but much of this is now in the past and stems from mutual history.

Probably right, but as for the British upper classes? My ancestors were down the pit (coal mine) for five or six generations and before that were copper miners for a few generations, so it wasn't down to us! On the subject of WWI maybe I should mention that the ruling classes here weren't so particular about the blood of our kind, either - look up the Accrington Pals to find out what happened to the lads from that little town just a few miles down the road from where I now live. Truly appalling!

Yes, can only but agree with you regarding the treatment of British troops too by many of the Officer Class. The Australian resentment here is that they were sacrificing troops that in essence belonged to what by then was another country.

This is but one and an historical example of the explanation I was making.

Tonight I will raise a glass to you, and to much that has been good about the relationships between Australians and citizens from the UK.

[size=18pt]You are Australian.
Are you offended by the SuperBowl Yellow Tail Ad?
[size=13pt]
Its been discussed on Australian TalkBack Radio ever since the SuperBowl. Sure just like the Aldi Ad isn't the US, this is not Australia - or is it?  [eek]  [smile]

[size=10pt]By the way, in the beach scene the 'animated' Kangaroo gets a chin chuckle. A warning to any FOG members considering visiting Australia. If a wild big Red or Eastern Grey Buck even lets you get that close, he would more than likely rip your bowls out by balancing on his tail and ripping his rear claws in.  So do not even think about it!

As for the wine, we export it to you in NA!  [smile] [big grin]

I'm not offended by any of it. I did however do a vacation cruise a couple weeks ago and had a couple drinks with an Aussie. The main thing I learned from him is that kangaroos of the red variety are basically free-range velociraptors with fur.

I'm always disgusted by advertising (as it basically is a attack on your brain, trying to install a trojan that makes you do stuff you normally wouldn't), so I usually put companies that manage to reach new heights when it comes to insulting my intelligence onto a blacklist.

ALDI managed that with their new cinema spot:
