Agreed it does seems slimy and classless, especially having to ask and present your friends receipt. I would agree both friends receiving 10% off is a better approach. Or considering the time of year how about 10% off no strings attached, I mean really it's 10% we are talking about not 30%

The owner was very critical of the current promotion, repeating what many here have already said. As a hobbyist, I stopped buying new Festool after this years price increase. It was the straw that broke the camels back. I've become a craigslist shopper instead. 10-20% off across the board would cause me to reverse the decision and grab a new CMS, 1400, and possibly a Kapex.
This quasi 10% is interesting but not enough to entice me. 20% would probably make sales skyrocket, and there is some justification for this. The US dollar has risen against the Euro by 18% in the last year and predicted to go even higher in the next six months as US interest rates are likely to rise. Unless I really need something I'm waiting on any upgrades.

Thanks Tyler for listening. How quickly are we likely to hear of the promotion amendment? I too vote for 20% as others have suggested. Should we be expecting an email this evening while we are all planning out our new tool purchases for ourselves this Christmas? I'm thinking CMS, Kapex, UG Set or Thickness Planer, Jointer. How should I be spending my time tonight?

Citing the steep decline in the Euro provides some evidence that this is a viable option for Festool should they choose to pursue it (as they are free to do or not do in a capitalist system).
