I received an email announcing a 1010 router with a light. I wonder if the light can be retrofitted to an older 1010 or even a 1400 or 2200?

I use the dust extraction shroud virtually 100% of the time, so I don't see it helping?
Maybe on the OF1400?

I have the same issues with my Dewalt 611. I'm running the dust shroud and have a brass PC style template guide in the baseplate. The LEDs in the motor housing bottom give out some good light, but I can't see anything for all the stuff in the way.

It only fits the new “R” version of the OF 1010.

Search eBay, theres a UK based guy who have made a pretty good looking LED module for the OF 1400 - Maybe there’s a version for the OF 2200 as well.

Having used the light today, in practice - the ability to have the light ON when Plug-It cable is disconnected (for safety when adjusting router bit to pencil line…) being battery operated is a very welcome plus!

Are you talking about the clear part that clips in near the collet? If so, it's compatible.

Yes, even though that thing is clear plastic, you still aren't going to be able to see much in there?
Maybe with a tiny engraving bit or something? But once that main body is plunged, not much visibility space left.
I don't do any "free-hand" routing where that would help me anyway.
Template/bushing, guide rail, flush-trim, edge guide, etc

I thought there was another thread about the UK vendor who sells aftermarket LED modules, but the site is so slow now and I can't find it. He does sell modules for the OF-1010, OF-1400, and OF-2200. I bought all three and just fitted the module to my OF-1400. It comes with a USB port cover, as well as a spare cover in the box. So far, I like it.

He only sells through the UK eBay, but ships internationally. I was expecting a sucker punch from the Zollamt thanks to Brexit, but eBay took care of the German VAT.

I got one of the after market LED lights for my OF 1010 from all4tools.

Seems a bit expensive, but works great.  Well worth it.
