Hi,

As the heading suggests, do festool make a 18mm slot cutting bit?

I am making multiple cabinets out of 18mm plywood, and my cutter is 2mm too large.

I'm in the UK

Thanks

Adrian

Axminster used to sell undersized straight cutters for plywood under the 'perform' range. They no longer sell that range or the plywood bits.  [sad]

If i remember correctly you need a 23/32'' bit for 18mm ply or used to unless the ply is thinner yet again.

CMT do bits specifically for that, let me know if you need the part number

I would be interested in that along with part numbers for the 6/12mm ply versions if CMT do those too?  Next year i need to get around to making my hand tool wall cabinet and these will be useful.  [smile]

Do you need 1/4" or 1/2" shanks? They do 8 and 12mm if you want them but at my typing speed, we could save hours here.

The 1/4 shank for 6.35mm ply is part number 811.065.11, for 12.7mm ply, it's 811.123.11 and for 19mm, it's 811.182.11.

Easier way, 1/4" set in a box, 811.001.11 for 1/4" or 811.501.11 for 1/2"

Thank you John, for me personally i would have 1/4'' shank bits as i intend to get an OF1010.

I'm not sure those bits will work, they are the standard size bits. For plywood undersized bits are needed. For instance here in the uk 6mm ply is around 5.5mm so a 6.35mm bit would make the groove almost 1mm too big for 6mm ply. Which would result in a sloppy fit.  [sad]

These are what is normally required to get a good fit with ply.

If you send me a pm with your email I will let you know the options, CMT Orange do from 2mm to 25.4mm with a lot in between.
