18v Compact 3.0ah batteries - (what won't they run?)

Hello all,

Owning several Festool Drills I am a big fan of the compact batteries. I own a couple of the older 2.6ah compact batteries and am interested in getting a couple of the newer 3.0ah compact batteries.

However - Having recently discovered, here on the FOG, that the new 3.0 batteries will not run the TCS-55 saw I am curious as to what else they will or will not run?  I know they will work with all the 18v drills, and apparently not the TCS. . . But what about the 18v Carvex I already own? And the 18v HKC-55 I have on my wish list?  I assume the carvex will be fine as I've used my 2.6ah batteries on that. But It would be nice to be able to confirm this as it confuses me that the new 3.0ah don't run the TCS-55 when I'm pretty sure the older (normal/large size) 3.0ah batteries seem to run it - both 18v and 15v. .

Any insight on this, either from Festool or fellow foggers with the gear to test, would be much appreciated.

Many thanks!!

Thank you [member=22067]mrB[/member] as you have just saved me from buying some compact 3.0ah batteries which I was going to use in my TSC once in a while. I don't think I will bother now if thats the case!

It is definitely the case that they will NOT run the TSC.

Hello mrB and all. I run the 3,1 Ah new compact 18 V battery on a BHC 18, PSC 420 (Carvex 18 V) and T 18+3. It really improves handling as you work with these machines "in the air". Sadly the TSC 55 would not accept the compact 18 V. You would think it would, the machine is marked 18 V and the battery is marked 18 V.

I got a pair of 5,2 batteries recently and now the TSC 55 works (and what an awesome machine.) That salesman too had not been informed by Festool to not sell the machine with compact batteries, a bit weak by Festool.

It is not so important to have a light weight battery on the TSC because it lies on the track.

HKC i dont know which battery runs it, i dont have use for that one and also think it is a bit too complicated for me.

The 15v (actually 14.4v) 3.0 battery will power the HKC.

However, it's at a reduced rpm (300-400 less I'd say) compared to the 18v battery.

This is rue for the TSC as well.
