18V Impact driver

Way overdue, in my ignorance invested $600 in FT's 18v system assuming I could add the impact driver after acquiring the PDC  [sad].  Still need to keep dewalt 18v batts and impact driver in kit. [mad]

My intuition tells me it will be here in 2017...... Maybe, thats whats going to be announced by Festool "Live" this evening...???!!!

Either one.

[member=14860]Distinctive Interiors[/member] ans per [member=727]antss[/member] ... a new KS60 must have taken 10x design and development effort over a new 18V impact. The "need" for an impact to replace the somewhat embarrassing Ti15 has been very public, yet we hear zero!

I'd be pleased to be wrong, but I don't feel it [sad]

My take is that Festool Germany takes an entirely different approach to what they bring to market than to survey the needs of tradesmen.  Particularly the U.S. ones.

I'm pretty sure no one in a marketing survey ever said they needed or wanted a portable tenoning tool. Yet, Domino has been an unequivocal home run that has prompted a followup act - the 700series.

Perhaps a jobsite radio was mentioned, and delivered.  But, it sorta pales in comparison as it doesn't act as a battery charger and is not digital like many of the competitors.  The compact drill xs series was waaaaay late to the party and is pretty whimpy in performance and is not brushless.  Superior ergonomics appeals to the faithful ; but isn't enough for , mass appeal when compared to the pioneering co.'s lineup breadth and battery tech.

It seems kind haphazard what and when they launch things , but they keep plodding along and we keep buying. So...............................................

The Festool impact driver survey was issued in late 2015 or early 2016...so just tack on an additional 2-3 years.  [scratch chin]

I have a lot of green tools but they can't be my go to brand without one. Most used tool on many days, and the primary use of any battery system.

Festool have all but confirmed there will be an impact driver. Now, whether that will be a 2017 or 2018 release is really anyone's guess at this stage though.

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] - was that survey on FOG, or did they mail it to you ?

Anyone else participate ?

TylerC is on record here saying there WILL NOT be one in 2017 or 2018.  I'm not sure whether he was speaking just for NA or Worldwide.

Which begs the question: why not ?

......hence the reason why nothing is said about possible, potential or not at all releases.

Phil, just what exactly are you trying to not-say?

.....all I am doing is pointing out that overall nothing is said about releases until set deadlines - it avoids rumours

Emailed it to me...I think they got my email through tool registration or possibly through purchasing parts from customer service. It was interesting though, especially the torque sensing questions.
