1950's cabinet style

Unfortunately, I'm old enough to remember that stuff.  The only thing worse would be if it was in Avocado.

Thanks for the post.

Love it. I love well kept period appropriate kitchens and baths.  Any period, ok anything before the 1980s.

I remember the push-button appliances, but I would've been too young to cook on them then.

My first thoughts when looking at those pictures were of the order of operations of the tear-out, and what I would have to allocate extra time and consideration for:

- built in place cabinetry, bring gloves and band-aids because those wicked nails they're held together with are going to bleed you.
- gigantic oversized cast-iron enamel sink/drainboard combo, bring temp laborers to haul that out without hernias all around.
- "kitchen of the future" built-in appliances, prepare to replace some messed up electrical and plumbing services.
- ancient tile splash, be ready to bag up questionable miracle materials of the past used as backer board, expect to replace all the drywall.

I really don't like the wood cabinetry of that area.  It looks fast and cheap.  The metal cabinets from that time were something special, though; something worth preserving or reproducing.

Just funny I just pained my bathroom Avocado Green ;)

It certainly is fun to look at, but the title of the article is a bit misleading. Check out the Samsung stainless dishwasher to the left of the sink in the first 2 pictures. And what happened to all of the drawers that are missing underneath the fridge? Still, a slice of 1950's Americana that's enjoyable to look at.
