Hello,

I'm looking for 20mm router bits. Do you know who sells good quality 20mm router bits? Is it possible to find any other straight metric router bits in the USA?
1/4" and 8mm shanks  are preferable, but 1/2" might work too.

Thank you,
VictorL

Ton,
I remember some bits will be NAINA.  So, is this 20mm bit in the endangered species list?   [big grin]. If it is, I will have to buy one right a way

Fidel

Yes, these bits are abandoned. 20mm is extremely convenient for calculating off set for MFS, circles etc. So you have to add/remove 10 mm. I do have old 25mm long bit, but it's not long enough, and I afraid that it won't be possible to find replacement here anymore.

Fidel:

The Festool 20mm hinge boring bit is going extinct, as Victor pointed out. As of this morning, there were a couple left in Indiana.

20mm in metric is essentially the same as 25/32 inches in dinosaur.  25/32 inch = 19.844 mm or essentially 20mm.

If you are willing to use a 1/2 inch shank bit, which is arguably stronger than 1/4 inch or 8mm, the first two sources of American-made router bits I checked have them, Eagle and Whiteside.

Eagle has this one:

Part No.:102-1275, diameter 25/32" carbide length 1-1/4" overall length = 3" shank: 1/2" $22.95

Whiteside has this one:

Part No: 1088, diameter 25/32" , carbide length 1 1/4" overall length 3" , shank 1/2", $17.12

If I could find these two so quickly, there must be more.

The hinge boring bit isn't really a router bit. It's for drilling holes for 20mm hardware to drop into. The holes it makes are 20.2mm to allow insertion clearance. The OP want s a true 20mm diameter bit for simplify figuring offsets for circle cutting etc.
