There's many posts about using a light to be able to 'remotely' switch on the dust extractor - it is better not having to walk round the bench to switch the auto/manual every time there's dust to clean up. This made me think of adding a 240v power outlet on my MFT trolley so now I don't have to walk round the bench to exchange power cables every time I change tools as I just can plug in at the front of the MFT.

What's that exact extraction setup?
Oneida thing with cyclone on the top to hold most of the dust then the Festool to catch the rest of the dust and provide the suction?

95-99% dust/shrapnel goes in the bin on mine, and it was home made.

You can make you own from these plans http://www.jpthien.com/cy.htm

Means you can get away with a smaller CT and still have a large capacity.

By switching on the light it makes the extractor start up as it detects a current being drawn, so you can use the extractor hose to collect any debris left behind. I use an OF1010 to cut 3mm housings and a lot of the dust escapes so this really helps...

It is an Oneida Dust Deputy and it fits on top of Festool extractors as the bottom of it is Systainer sized. However it will fit to the CT26, 36 and 48 much better than it does on the Midi. I have a Midi for portable use and the DD on that is held on with ratchet straps. On the bigger extractors a DD will clip on without the need of being tethered.

It removes 99.99% of dust, after using mine for about 15 months I've emptied the container maybe 20 times. I also periodically check the bag in the CT36 and there's barely a spoonful of dust in it. At this rate it will take years to fill it...

Duh, get it now thanks. Makes sense.

I use a jigsaw on lowest speed setting with no blade fitted to trigger it, it's plugged into another hole off my boom arm.

Whats the imperial height of the DD box top. Just before the cyclone cone starts upward?
I have a midi also and was thinking of that same setup.

Thanks
