Is it possible to use 3/8 MDO for raised panels in cabinet doors? Will the routered edge paint well?

I am making a shaker style door with 3/4 stile and rails, I would like a 1/8 lip on the inside of the door, 1/4 gap and 3/8 lip on the outside. Any suggestions?

Core is not that great on MDO. You'll have to dosome filling and sanding.

We use 1/2 or 3/4. maple veneered MDF in this situation. Which depends on the panel profile. Using the 3/4 requires a back cutter on the profile bit.

Yes, i've been using 1/2 MDF for my raised panels with a back cut so it fits in a 1/4 groove on the stile and rails. That gives me a 1/4 inch lip on the face of my doors. But I want a deeper profile on the fronts of my shaker style doors so I thought 3/8 MDF would give that to me. However the only thing I can get in my city is MDO......
