30" long Domino tenons applicability

I have a need for Dominos longer than the standard 8mm x 40 mm long, or similar 10 mm. tenons.  The catalog shows #498686, 36 piece Dominos roughly 28" long; or similarly, #498687, for 10 mm. tenons, cut to your own length. But it says applicability is to the new XL DF700.

I probably am not up to speed on Festool nomenclature and apologize, but is there any reason why these cut-to-length longer products are not suitable for use in my original DF 500 Domino?

Yes. You can use it with your DF 500. The catalog was printed long before we had details on these products.

Not really, it's just that the new Domino DF 700 can plunge 70mm. The stock to which you refer is meant for deeper mortises.

No. The most recent is the 2011/2012 catalog originally published last year.

There should be a new catalog around early 2013.
