36MM to 27MM Hose Adapter

A few weeks ago I ordered the hose adapter (item 436227) from my dealer and have used it a few times already.  It's great being able to keep the 36MM hose on and only add the adapter if I go to use the Domino or a sander.

I found that it's such a tight fit to get the adapter on to the 36MM hose though, and the last couple times I took it off to use with my TS55R, it doesn't fit snug anymore and actually slipped off a couple times while cutting.

Is this happening to anyone else?  I'm surprised Festool is making an adapter that degrades the connection of the original hose.

I don't think that 436227 is an official Festool part. I think your dealer- perhaps Atlas?- makes it as an after-market accessory.

Festool do make an adaptor to fit 27mm tools to 36mm hoses, part #768135. It's not sold in North America, hence the after-market fixes that crop up here. I brought a dozen or so over from the UK a year or two ago and sent them to various FOG members on request.

So the festool adapter is "to large " for the female end of your 36mm hose? I just purchased one, have not used it yet, but for the same reasons you did got the ability to change between tools.

You're right, it isn't. 436227 is officially listed as a part for the older AXP 85 saw.

The origin of the number is explained here:

If you read it in a certain way, it says FOR 36 TO 27.

Didn't know they made that adapter, but it looks to be the other way around, to connect the 27mm hose with a 36mm tool port.

I thought I have seen a Festool adapter to go from a 36mm hose to a 27mm dust port, but I can't find it anymore.

There is an adapter shown on Marino's site, is this what you purchased (or similar to it)? I had considered this but instead ran a 27mm and 36mm hose on my boom arm...

Ah... and here I thought it was an actual Festool part.  Yes, it seems that it must be an adapter fabricated by Atlas.  Great idea, but I find the fit is too tight that it's stretching the female end of my 36MM hose to the point it isn't a snug fit on my TS55.  It still fits tightly on my floor cleaning wand, but that was really tight before.

Pbbbbbptptpttptttttt! To these things.

Thanks for the setup showing your boom arm in another thread.  I'm doing the same to my boom arm.  This adapter thing really gets in the way.  :(

One very easy (and cheap) means of joining a 27mm hose to a 36mm hose is a simple 1-1/4" copper pipe coupling.  It slips over the 27mm hose end and into the 36mm end.  It's not perfect, but it's better than the alternative.

An alternative is a 1 1/2" diameter flanged tailpiece for a sink drain.  I had trouble finding a copper coupling that size at the small hardware store in my town.  The flanged tailpiece fits well and comes in matching black plastic.  I just cut it down to around 1 1/2" long and inserted it into the 36mm hose fitting with the flange sticking out.  The flange gives you a point of purchase for pulling it out.  The 27mm hose end fitting then has a nice tight fit inside the tail piece.

I think they do!!

Or by a manufacturer they partner with.  Just not available in a lot of countries as a Festool part.  [unsure]

Anyway hope that helps someone.  Happy Holidays.  [big grin]

Googled a bit, it is made by Nilfisk-Alto. They make almost all Festool's vacuum cleaner accessories as I far as I can tell. Festool should make this a genuine Festool article. I'm sure there would be a lot of demand for it. The short whip with two 27mm nozzles is a far from ideal solution.

I'd rather just get it from Alto.  That way I do not have to pay 2x the price for the same thing.

I purchased one of the adapters from industrial vacs and it works very well.  However as some have pointed out in other threads, when using some tools, such as a sander, the added flexibility of a short length of 27mm hose on the end of the larger hose is an advantage.

I just found that the fit was a little loose when a 27mm hose end was inserted into a 36mm hose end.  The 1 1/2" sink drain tailpiece worked perfectly to create a nice tight fit.
