36v cordless TS 55 REB

is anyone else getting the same problems as i have ? i think i will wait and see what they say and maybe try an get 2 more batts for free then it wont be an issue really. or i could get the corded one or i could get the new circ saw ?

ok it just got dropped back by fedex with no warning and no info as to what had been done to it, so i called them and they have replaced the electronics inside the machine the batts were fine apparently but they were not in the tool so i am guessing i should not store them in the tool if i dont want them to be drained ? when i asked if its a common fault she said it is not uncommon and also they are new tools so they have not had many back but that also means that they have had some back for repair and theres not even many out there yet, mine is only about a month old and came strait from germany. i am now hoping that it will be sorted and the run time will be significantly better. Do i go and buy more rails for it now ??

Spoke to Festool about the batteries draining when stored on the saw, apparently it's the first they've heard of this issue. anyway They asked me to send it back into them and they'll check it over. Hope they can fix the battery draining issue as I've been impressed with everything else about the saw.

i think it could be a common problem as there is obviously issues with the saws internal electronics as they are quite complicated to switch between 18v and 36v etc im going to try and remember to leave the batts off mine if i can which is annoying when you have payed so much for a tool plus i like to keep the contacts covered if i can

When did the cordless track saw come out? I just bought a TS55 REQ about a month ago and had no idea that these existed or were coming down the line. I would have liked to compare them and see what people had to say. It obviously sounds like there are some battery issues, but nothing with the saw. Warranty should cover the battery issue and eventually the problem should go away as they discover what is sucking the juice away from some of your tools. I don't really travel with my tools at the moment, so I could be better off with the corded one, but it would've been nice to know these were on the way just to have the option. Was there an official announcement or something?

I have the TSC 55. It sat in the Systainer, both batteries on the saw for about 2 weeks. Used it today, both batteries showed a full charge and the saw worked just fine.

I recall all of the announcements, some official, some not.

Just want to add my thumbs up for the TSC55, which I got pretty soon after June 1st.  I've been using it in combination with my TS75 on this film set/installation build, and it's become my go-to cross cut saw on 4x8 sheets -- lack of cord/hose means no unforseen catching on the rail/workpiece when I'm stretching my arm at full length on the back end of the cut.  Battery life hasn't been an issue for me so far.  With the type of work I'm doing I'll be making a bunch of cuts at once, then go for a while without having to make any, and so if batteries are getting low I have enough time between cutting sessions to recharge one or both of them.

The other carpenter on the set is actually using an older model TS55, and so I'm now considering selling him my REQ, since the TSC has taken its place for all my work.

I have had mine for a month now an I can't say enough good things about it. I have had a corded tsc55req for quite some time now. It was a life changing tool but now it sits and I never use it.  I absolutely love the tsc 55. The batteries have been flawless. They use the same cell as Makita which is reassuring. I use it for fitting kitchens,trimming doors as well as sheathing on walls, floors and roofs.

Update: 

  I sent my TSC 55 back to Festool a couple of months ago because of the battery drainage issue. If the saw was not being used and was stored with the batteries attached then the batteries were draining really quickly.
Anyway after I received the saw back I was told that some of the electronics had been replaced inside, they didn't go into any detail. Anyway I have not encountered any of the battery drainage problems I was experiencing before. I guess there must have been a faulty batch of electronics fitted to some of the saws.

Not to be argumentative, but based on your situation there is no way to determine if your situation was an isolated case or "a faulty batch" as you wrote.

I love mine only got one gripe with it as i am constantly changing the angle settings it bugs me a bit how the bag gets in the way of the release knob for the base plate removing the bag everytime i make adjustments irks me a little its a real fine saw though 5.2 ah batts required
