I just found one at my local hardware store! The Festool / Stabilla 48" installers level. I think I'm going to grab it! Don't need it but..... ;)

For what I do on a daily basis 48"/ 120cm is the one to have. You're a very lucky man!!

Oh, my first post: Hi all!!!

Yup. It's a nice level.

Oh, my first post: Hi all!!!

[welcome] to the FOG!

So, what is it that you do on a daily basis that you use a 48" level for?

Well I'm not sure what the other guy does but I'm going to gloat about my find and purchase :D

As well you should! And don't forget - pictures or it didn't happen!

I too find 48" to be the ideal size.

I picked up a 96", and despite being impossible to transport, it really unwieldy and you smack it into a lot of things. Or maybe I need to pay more attention...

;) Still with the plastic wrap and guess what it? It was put on the shelf on 12/19/09! The only one in stock and there it sat for five years.mthey had the Stabilla with lit tubes in stock too but it doesn't say Festool :).  Oh and it doesn't have a metric and imperial scale like mine  [cool]

Are you willing to share which HW store? It might give me an idea where to look for one...

ChrisK, That looks to be a solid wood core with aluminum frame.  That is a good one.  and both metric and imperial scale to boot. You should gloat.

Thanks guys! As far as the store, I bought it at Brock's in Rochester NH. They have sold Festool for years. They have a tiny display but it is not a chain store, rather a locally owned one. When Home Depot was built in Rochester about 13-15 years ago, they plopped the box right down in the same parking lot as Brock's! We were all really ticked off but she's still going strong! Funny enough....when I bought my new level and was bragging about how I bought the most EXPENSIVE level they had the salesman said "hey, I got an apron in a few years ago and it was sitting in a display for all that time. Some lady came in and bought it yesterday". So in two days they sold the five year old and the old apron. I am really happy with this piece of equipment, so much so I don't want to open! It's really quite beautiful.
