In the U.S., there isn't really anything else like a small town 4th of July celebration.  One of the best is in Ouray, Colorado.  It's a small mining town, pop about 800 on a normal day but on this day, it swelled to 15,000!  Parades, water fights with fire hoses, BBQ and a fantastic fireworks display capped off a great day!

Great pics, love the hat on the hump  [laughing]  and the aircraft [big grin] Your post brings back great memories.
Last 4th of July I went to was on an American Airbase in Germany 2001, we were made really welcome and had a great time. I believe I was the only Brit there because as we showed our ID at the entrance the rather pretty female guard/MP siad " So your the Brit" with a big smile.

The view looking over the town looks nice.  Kinda reminds me of Chamonix in the French Alps.
