Wondering if the 8.0 Ah battery will work and if it sits flush against the side like the 5.0 Ah battery does.

Yes and yes!

I'm running the 8's and the run time is pretty decent. From memory I think I roughly get about 90 mins continuous cutting before they hit the 1/3rd level.

Just checked my batteries and I thought one set was 5.0ah but it's 5.2ah, don't know if the dimensions vary from the 5.0ah, but the 8ah's are the exact same height as the 5.2's, and fit just fine packed inside the case and don't protrude, although they are longer, which Festool have catered for as there's still more room at the end.

Thx for the correction. The batteries are 5.2ah.

At a Festool demo in the Rockler store, the Festool sales fella showed the 8.0Ah battery running on the CSC SYS 50.

He made sure that we observed the battery did not protrude beyond the periphery of the saw. Which allows the systainer cover to still fit over the table saw.

The pics I attached earlier in this thread show there's heaps of room, I'm hoping this means they'll be bringing out an even bigger capacity one for the SYS 50.
