I made a couple of gifts. A bed tray for my daughter out of maple with the base made from plywood laminated with Forbo Desktop Furniture Linoleum. A small set of drawers for my wife, made from ebony stained oak and maple with the drawer bottoms using the laminated plywood same as the tray.

I enjoyed making these using a combination of traditional joinery and also some CNC work such as cutting the sockets on the end of the legs for the table, and making the drawer pulls, and engraving the monogram. These were also my first dovetails using the new Jessem Mite-R-Slide on the TA Fence with the Incra LS.

I'm not the biggest admirer of real wood. I love just making things so I always try to incorporate other materials as I think you can have more fun with the design.  I guess I'd get on well at school now where instead of woodworking and metalworking the kids topic is simply 'resistive materials'.

Nice work, I especially like the bed tray. From experience I would suggest a movable slider just to keep things from moving around too much or a cup holder. A spilled cup in bed is never fun to clean up after.
No doubt some of the purists will be horrified. Combining wood with other materials is fine with me.
