A Dust Deputy for your Festool.

I may get some singed hair trying that. [eek]

I will save the next full bag just for you guys. [big grin]

Hey Darcy,

You should charge admission to the filming - should make more than enough to buy a few boxes of new bags :-)

Fred

I could make it real dramatic if I sucked up a bunch of bottle rockets in that bag as well!!

This could be fun, it may have to wait, it is a bit chilly outside. [big grin]

Not with the fire going.

At this time we are NOT taking pre-orders on the container alone.

A duck walks into a bar and asks the bartender, "Do you have any bread?"

Bartender:  "No."

Duck:  "Do you have any bread?"

Bartender:  "No!"

Duck:  "Do you have any bread?"

Bartender:  "This is a bar!  We don't have bread!  If you ask me for bread one more time, I'm gonna nail your bill to the floor!"

Duck:  "Do you have any nails?"

Bartender:  "No!!!"

Duck:  "Do you have any bread?"

Regards,

John

p.s., I bookmarked your web site, will check back from time to time to see when the container-only option becomes available.

Could this not be a nice article for Baptist in the Netherlands to sell ?

I would buy it... just need the vac to buy first [embarassed]

Just a question... some people here keep talking abouth  static, using copper tape etc... Why is that ?

Static from the friction of the moving dust through the system builds up.  Kinda like rubbing a balloon on your head until it builds up static electricity and then you can stick the balloon on the wall.  The Festool vacs have antistatic hoses and connectors...but if you introduce the Dust Deputy in the air circuit continuity is lost and static builds up.  You can get a static shock and it reduces the efficiency of the air flow.  So to circumvent the problem, you can re-connect the breaks in continuity with copper tape.  Anyway, the concept is to take the static build up to ground eliminating the risk of shock.  Copper tape is available at Garden centers where it is used as a bug deterrent (Slugs).  Regular wire would work but the copper tape is easily stuck on the system and conforms to the many shapes easily.  There are some pics on here I believe where someone has done that to there Dust Deputy set up.  If it's not here it's at "Talk Festool" another Forum.

Also, I got an email from Rockler today getting a 20% discount on one Item.  I used it to get another Dust Deputy set up for a third vac in my shop.  I bought the old set up with the bucket since it serves my purpose and is only 99.00.  79.00 after the discount plus shipping and tax.

I purchased the ClearVue cyclone (instead of the Dust Deputy) and immediately discovered that I would get zapped when sanding.  So I used some anti-slug (copper) tape to complete the anti-static circuit across the cyclone.  Works great!

But, I see that Oneida's website states that their new plastic Dust Deputy cyclone is made from "static dissipating plastic".  My guess is that this would eliminate the need for the copper tape -- unless this does not work with Festool's hoses for some reason...

The excitement comes from the fact that many of us either do not currently own a DD and were looking to retrofit with a DD/bucket or were looking into mounting a DD directly onto a systainer (fun, but let's face it, a lot of work).  This new product ostensibly solves both issues.

Sorry, I can't face the assertion that cutting a piece of scrap plywood to size, putting in two notches, drilling two holes for bolts, and attaching a bucket is a lot of work.

I do find that paying for "coolness" to be odd, but then I'm the kind of person that only washes my car twice-a-year.

For the extra $130 I'll gladly bolt a bucket to my CT 22. The cool factor isn't worth the extra money, besides even if it took me an hour to connect the bucket to the CT 22 I'd be making $130/hour.  [wink]  [cool]
