Remember--if you're looking for a typical tourist photographer, I'm not your guy.  [tongue] But I enjoyed these particular ones. Especially the first two:

A mashed bicycle wheel that plays strange games with your mind:

The ceiling of the Parthenon:

Two shots of the Coliseum:

Hey nice pics.  That is some structure eh !

Need to put it on my list of places to visit.

Thats a well executed bit of lightweight concreting in your second  picture.

Great pix, David!

I spent quite a bit of time working in Italia and don't remember vandalism. Where are the butterflies?

Tom

Great pics, especially the first two.  Let me know if you need someone to carry your luggage. [big grin]

I saw graffiti when I was there about 5 years ago

In an alley in Rome, near the Vatican. They're all faux butterflies to be used as fridge magnets. :)

David,

Very nice pics.  Thank you for sharing your expertise with us.

I love the shot of the bicycle...like a Dali painting.

Lovely work.

I thought the bicycle looked faintly familiar also.

I thought maybe it was Barcelona until I reread the subject. It reminds me of Dali or Gaudi.

Bicycle shot is great, and yes Tom, is Dali-esque.  As an avid cyclist, anything with two wheels fascinates / intrigues

David great pictures.  I will be in Italy in October and I hope I can get as nice of pictures as you.

Michaelangelo's David, carved from one piece of solid marble 17' high. I had to sit on the floor and rest my camera on my leg and guess at the framing and use the alternate shutter release on the bottom of the camera while I pretended to do something else (pictures are a no no).

Hopeful candles against the colorful bokeh of the nave:

All natural colored marble:

All these were taken in Florence.

Lovely pics - thanks for sharing!

That bicycle shot is awesome. Great composition and.... um....

saturation (?) depth(?)

Just curious - did you have the camera set to shoot B&W?
Or shoot in color and process it after?
Seriously, those blacks look good enough to eat. :-)

I shot them in RAW (color), and then converted them to black and white using Nik software.

Glad you enjoyed them!
