A great opportunity?

Have a chance to buy a ts75 for 350.00.  this includes a 55" rail and some clamps.  Should I go for it?!  I need a backup for my ts55 while I send it out for service, and this might fit the bill.  This saw is in mint condition!  I've already purchased a hardly ever used domino from this person...

It would mainly collect dust in my shop while I'm out in the field, but I'm thinking I might use it for ripping sheet goods in the shop, then use my 55 for cross cutting.  Anyone else do this?

Thanks,

Jon

Jon,

Your proposing exactly what I do now.  I have ts55's for the field, but have a 75 for the shop.  My thinking was that a heavier saw in the shop was ok when mobility was not as important, and gave me extra capacity in the rare case that I needed it.

Go for it .

Dan

For 350 it's worth buying unless it's beat. Especially with the rail and clamps. BUY IT NOW! Nothing wrong with another saw. I have a 75, 2 worm drives (1 for porches, 1 for roofs), a PC framing saw, a PC sawboss for small repair jobs, a dewalt cordless for quick and dirty repairs. a skil cordless for small tile, 2 wet saws (large & small), Ok I have a few more but I'll stop.
You could use the 75 for larger work. Good luck

Jon:

If you think it's a good deal, (I suspect it is from what you said), and you want it, you better jump on it. If the rail is in good shape and the saw cuts sweet, it's a good deal. By all means, check the cut.

Good deals don't usually last long, though in this economy, they last longer than normal...

I think it's a terrible idea and you should walk away.

If you give me the feller's name and contact info, I'll make sure to lecture him on good business practice.      [wink]     [big grin]

If you consider a 55" rail is nearly nearly $100... and a pair of clamps is a minimum of about $40... you're getting the saw itself for $210.
If this deal includes the Systainer, etc... you've got nearly $350 just in total "parts"... Sys5=$80.  Plug-it cord replacement = $35... blade, splinterguards, etc etc etc.

Thanks guys, I needed a little nudge, and I surprisingly got it [tongue].

Robert, I will save you the ti.e and hassle of having to lecture him, I will do it for you!

I said I got the nudge I needed, haven't gotten the saw yet. [scared]  when I get the saw, I will provide the necessary pics to properly gloat.  [cool]

Ok, so I didn't get the saw...for 350.00.  I went for it and asked if he would be willing to sell it for 300.00!  And yes he did!!!!

I know, no pix it didn't happen, but I'm having problems with my droid (long story), so no pics just yet.  But the saw is in mint condition, the gentleman I purchased it from is a hobbiest woodworker that is no longer able to do it because it takes too much of a physical toll on him.  He says it makes him happy that his tools are going to be used instead of sitting around in his shop. [crying]  I think that's really why he sold it for the price that did, since he actually had the 55" guide rail in the front of his Mercedes...Now that's something I wish I had taken a picture of!

Question:  Can the 75 be adjusted so it lines up with my 55 so I don't have to have dedicated guide rails for the two?  This 75 seems to take more off the splinter guard than my 55 base on the guide rail he sold me.

Thanks,

Jon

Nice price. Everyone out here on the left coast wants big bucks for any used Festool products.

Jon,

Rick Christopherson's Supplemental Manual for the TS55 saw has instructions on the bottom of page 12 (under the heading, "Matching the TS 55 to an Existing Guide Rail").  You can download his manuals at his website

Pics, to prove it actually happened!

Definitely need to adjust the 75 to match my guide rails.  This one was set so far to the left that theres is little or no rubber left showing on the guide rail.  Thanks Corwin, I remembered reading it could be done, but forgot where.

Robert, thanks again for the heads up on picsay, its awesome.

Hmm, looks like it really did happen, Junkie!

Nice purchase, looks to be in great condition  [thumbs up]

Yeah, the original blade looks like it has never been used.  Can't believe it.
