Our current bathroom renovation involved installing a new shower. To my dismay one of the walls in the corner where the shower goes was not vertical. Fitting the shower liner would have been virtually impossible. So, after a some measuring, out came the TS55 and guide rail, and within a very short time I had cut packers from a stick of 4x2 tapering from 10mm to 0mm over 2.4m, on went the drywall and with a minimum of fuss, and even less dust, I had a perfectly plumb wall. The only thing that could have made it easier was a ripping blade.

That's a good idea!  The few times I've had to do that I ended up marking the board and using the bandsaw.  Your idea of making one mark and using the guide rail would save a lot of time and, sometimes, a trip to the jointer.

Get the panther blade if you have a lot of ripping to do.  But the 28 tooth general purpose blade works well, too.  I prefer using that blade to the 48 tooth blade for cutting cheapo birch plywood for my shop cabinets.  Cut quality is actually quite good with a clean sharp blade.

I have the ATF 55 with the general purpose blade.  I have ripped 2" (1-1/2" actual) white oak and even hard maple with no burning.  i just take several passes at increased depth with each pass.  But i have to do the same thing with my table saw.

i have some cherry for an upcoming project.  i understand that is difficult wood to rip without burning.  i expect i will be in for a little educatin'  :o ??? ::) 8)
