A little SysPort help, please?

I know I may be hanging myself out to dry by asking for help after the 'what would you build with the Environ recycled material sheet goods' thread, but what the heck - I have thick skin!

I have a number of WrightLine tambour door cabinets that I removed from a data center years ago. Besides being very well built, they have a number of other features that I like.

Here's a picture of one of the units. It is light gray in color, so will probably look more like a line drawing:

And here is a preliminary drawing of the back wall of my shop where I intend to use them:

So - thoughts, comments, complaints, or suggestions?

Anyways, if I had those cabinets, I would put them to good use, and systainer storage is a great idea.  The only thing I see based on the PDF, is that it might be better to have a separate shelf for each systainer, or you may have to jockey them around to get the one you want.

I think I'm agreeing with Bryan in saying that I'd make the shelves adjustable sliders and not stack. I've thought about stacking because I do so much stacking, unstacking, restacking, and on and on while handling my inventory. If you can avoid stacking even sortainers, you are gaining - in a storage and lower frequency use situation.

If you are rolling a stack in to do a job, it's less important to have "sys drawers". I say that because you will likely use every SYS/SORT anyway so the order and stack doesn't really matter once you get there.

To sum up my thoughts:

• In a shop or vehicle, drawer-like stacking
• rolling on site, stacking is cool

That's what works best for me. I haven't yet achieved setting up my shop where I don't have to stack but I'm working on it...

All items are to scale. The green trays under the Systainers are full-extension drawer slide trays. I am trying to make then work as double-wide trays so I can get by with half the number of slides. But I have room to make them single width if that's what I decide to do.

Exactly, and precisely why I am configuring them to see if I can make them work.

And although mine is a one-man hobby shop, it never hurts for OpSec to be able to close the tambour doors to hide the goodies behind them! Here's a cleaned-up example of that:

I don't see why not. I already planned to wire them for chargers for my cordless tools, so I don't see why I couldn't add a circuit to control a small motor for the doors.

OK - one more project added to the shop list. Dang you, Kev...

All cabinets are 36" wide and 18-1/2" deep.
Useable depth inside is 16-1/2".
The two short cabinets in the center are 60" tall.
The four tall cabinets are 80" tall.

Wow,  Thanks for the dimensions.  I will have to keep my eyes open to see if I can find something similar.  With the width and depth, you could get good flexibility.  I mean, you could go three across or two across.  The best thought I had would be if you have the RO150, you could make a single shelf to hold the sander, plus the abrasives if you had a systainer for them.  I would like that option to when you pull out the tool, on the same shelf, have the accessories that go with.
