We had requests for a class like this, so the trainers made it happen! Note that due to the more advanced techniques used, you must first attend one of the other classes before you can attend this one. The best option is the Festool Essentials class, which even long time Festool owners can benefit from.

Check out the details here: http://festooltraining.com/curricula/#c12

Be sure to update your training class notifications to include this new class if you're interested here: http://www.festooltraining.com/subscribe

Looks like a great project! Interesting that one of the used tools listed are "edgebanders".. Hope to be able to take this with Steve in Henderson soon.  :)

PS - I know there have been calls for us to offer more end user training dates to our schedule. That will be part of the plan for 2015. So, we hope more folks have an opportunity to attend.

When I looked at the picture quickly, it looked like the systainer columns were part of the design, separating the different bookcases at 22.5degrees.

It's just the perspective of the camera. They are not tapered.

Is that, in fact, the project that is built in the class or is there some flexibility with regard to the end product?

Second, when you say that there is a prerequisite class, does that mean the basic class?

I have wanted to take the cabinet class and have used Festool tools and made other cabinet projects over the years. I'm not sure the basic course would add that much to my knowledge.

That is the end product and there is no opportunity for change. The project plan is set in stone so that instruction can be provided consistently.

You must have attended any other Festool end user training event previously.

You'd be surprised what you might learn in the Essentials class even if you've used our tools for years. But, like I said, you can use any of the other classes to fulfill the prerequisite requirement.

Definitely interesting that the "KA 65 Conturo Edgebander" is listed.  [eek]

We've be demonstrating the Conturo since Festool Connect last March and using it in classes.

Shane I dont see a schedule of classes for this class.

That's because it's not scheduled. Yet. The first class should be scheduled very soon. That's why I suggested updating your subscriptions now.  [wink]

Shane,

Has Festool USA ever considered creating some official Festool training content online?  Example video taping a class like this.

Reason I ask is that from doing this as a hobby on the evenings & weekends, the likelihood of me taking time off from my primary profession to travel for a class is unlikely.  What I would seriously consider though is paying a modest amount to access some Festool focused training content to review on nights and weekend.  I would think charging some from this would help offset the cost of creating such a program, and then too would also inspire us to purchase the tools we have yet procured  [wink]

I'd be interested to hear if others would find value in this too.

Thanks

Yes, we've talked about doing videos with training content. But there are no solid plans in place at this time.

I maybe but I did tame an all day basic class at CU WW in Champaign, IL run by a guy who was supposed to have been certified to teach Festools use. I would admit that it was to some degree promotional for their store but that was what introduced to the TS55, MFT,  and 1400. The guy was very good.

Shane,

Would they ever offer videos from these end user classes. I'd love to be able to peer in and learn from Festool education online.

I'd probably even be willing to pay subscription service to do so, or purchase DVDs of a series with classes focused on specific projects.

What are the odds something like that could be in the future?

Well, to watch it live you'd have to sit there for 2-3 days for 8 hours a day. I'm not sure most people have the time to do that and I don't recall that being an option we discussed.

I suppose I didn't mean a live stream.

What I was hoping for would be more edited highlights via video for the essential steps for specific projects.

I love seeing festools in action as a way to model best practices. I'd love to see either a video vault or dvd library from festool in the future highlighting how to's for popular projects.
