I was workin the other day and was wondering where my 5 in 1 had made off to. It hit me I never loose the green stuff but I always seem to be misplacing the Cheapo stuff. GOt me to thinking if i had a nice green and black screwdriver handle with a quick release chuck on it I may be less likley to loose it.

Just a few other consideration for it.
  1. Ratcheting/bidirestional
  2. The ability to spin with your fingers easily
  3. Additional bit storage in the handle
  4. A dummy chord on it Optional of course.

Now i am sure i could spend a ton  of money on a nice Matco, snapon driver but i am found of the green.

There are a couple of Festool screwdrivers out there in the wild that I know of, but neither have all the features you want. They were discussed at http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/mft3-2657/

There is the Centrotec one - "CENTROTEC-DRIVE", Order No 495228:

...and the "Autoloader", Order No 494530, that comes with various bits:

They're not very common though, and are probably easier to get in Europe than the USA.

Anyone know of any other Festool screwdrivers?

Harry,

I think that those are manufactured by Wera.  You can do a google search for them here in the US.  I think that there are a couple of distributers here, including Jamestown Distributors and Chads Tool Box.

Guys the Autoloader has been around in Canada for probably 6-7 years atleast.  Its cheap and junky, yet works well until it gets so scratched up you can't find your bits.

Its embarassing when companies rebadge this crap that I can get for 10 dollars and sell it for 50....shame.

Warner, I have the same little Wear, its a nice piece.

The festool Centrotec handle was included in the 2009 centrotec systainer. I've never used mine because I own the Wera, which has endured 3-4 years of ritual abuse and works like a charm. The bit lock extension is really handy to pop in a cordless drill when needed. Unfortunately the Wera has become my 2 year old daughter's favorite toy and she is not into sharing.

William,

Is the WERA that you and your daughter love this one:

And do you have the pouch?  Just curious at how well it works before I order one!

ps I'll have the image up shortly, good ol' windows decided to not let me cut and paste so I get to reboot.  Lovely!  Hang in there, its coming...

OK I hopefully am done  wrestling with the big alligator that is a windows pc...  [crying]

Here's the photo I was unsuccessful at posting previously:

William,
Still curious if this is the one your daughter and you are so fond of.  Also do you have experience with the holster?  Would like to know before purchasing.  Thanks!

Thats her.
I've never read the instructions in English- "bayonet" (sounds French?)
Anyway as with all Wera products, I'm pleased as pie. If you buy one, be prepared for the "Q" and "James Bond" comments from your co-workers.
Ride the yule tide,
Bill

Thanks for the info, William.  Maybe its time to get your daughter her own WERA ... of course that could start that path down the slippery slope... [scared]

That bottom picture in the second post looks identical to the Sears Craftsman screwdriver I have, which was well under $20, except for the name badge.

My Woodcraft store has a similar item, in red, blue, mustard yellow, or green (not quite Festool green) for $14.95.  I bought one just to have the #1 and #2 square drive bits for use in the shop, since the Craftsman one seems to sit in my home office for use on the computers.

I just bought the Centrotec 2009 bit set (found someone in Europe to sell it to me and it comes with the 1st handle pictured in the 2nd posting. I've only had a chance to use it a couple of times. It felt good in my hand. It's very basic though and does not have the additional features you're suggesting. On a side note I purchased a Wera screwdriver set for my brother in law this past Christmas and he loved it. Says he can't get over how well it holds onto the screw (although he's comparing to his old set - some Home Depot special). Now I'm planning to buy a Wera set for myself.
